Types of Dating Scams

On dating sites, scammers can act differently. They have several well-functioning schemes, knowing which you can recognize a criminal and protect yourself. Most often, gullible and sentimental women of any age and certain social status become victims of deceivers. Let’s take a closer look at the most common ways of cheating on dating sites.

Joint Vacation

The scheme applies to both sexes, but more often to women striving for a beautiful and expensive life at someone else’s expense. The attacker creates an account and posts pictures of luxurious life: restaurants, yachts, villas, gorgeous beaches, positioning it as his usual pastime. After some communication with a potential victim, the scammer invites her to spend a weekend, for example, on the coast of some paradise resort.

Inspired by the upcoming trip, the woman loses her head. In the meantime, the conditions of the trip are becoming interesting — to pay for a ticket or a flight, since the account of the “prince” is supposedly suddenly blocked, the transaction doesn’t have time to reach or other reasons due to which there is no way to make a payment. And he had already found the best hotel, made a surprise for her and arranged everything, but such an annoying nuisance happened. He undertakes to cover all expenses upon arrival at the place. He asks to pay for the trip to a woman who transfers money to him personally or pays for tickets and travel.

After payment, two options for the development of events are possible:

  1. The fraudster disappears as soon as he receives the money. It’s the most common outcome of such a scam.
  2. The attacker really flies to resort with his “chosen one,” but rests at her expense, guaranteeing that all costs will be reimbursed after returning home. Of course, there can be no question of any monetary return, and the deceiver has rested at someone else’s expense.

This scheme also works with some men who are flattered by the luxurious life of a woman they like.

Please, Help!

Cadging sympathy is the most common cheating scheme that works for most people. This method is as follows: the deceiver communicates with his/her victim, confesses his/her feelings and promises a paradise life together soon. And when it seems that a happy life is close at hand, the admirer suddenly has a misfortune that becomes an obstacle on the way to it:

  • trauma as a result of a terrible accident;
  • severe sudden illness;
  • serious problems began in business, up to ruin;
  • military clashes have begun in the country and there is no way to leave it;
  • fatal illness of a close relative.

This isn’t a complete list of possible situations — the intruders have enough fantasy for various sentimental stories. But the goal is one — to cause pity and lure money.
